Hello everyone, and welcome back to another exciting Foursaken Feature, where we bring you new and interesting material to spice up your 4e game. This week, I found myself thinking that it had been a while since I made a monster block, and so I’ve got three new ones for you. Without further ado, let me introduce the dream elementals.
Dream Elemental
These unusual beings are created by an odd mix of arcane energy and the unfathomable magic of dreams. Formed, in essence, from the unconscious thoughts of sentient beings, dream elementals have a wide variety of forms and personalities. Strange beings, dream elementals often roam the world in pursuit of obscure agendas. Occasionally a dream elemental will develop a fascination with a mortal, either providing aid to or harassing the individual, depending on the nature of the dream elemental. There are three known types of dream elementals, as listed below.
Dream Elemental, Daydream
The least of the dream elementals, the daydream appears in its natural form as a solid cloud of paisley vapor with random and often quite pleasant images frequently appearing and disappearing within its cloudy form. While daydreams can be of any temperament, most are benign, attacking only if provoked. When in combat, a daydream tends to avoid inflicting lethal damage, preferring to frustrate foes, and resorting to killing its enemies only if the fight starts to turn against it.
Dream Elemental, Nightmare
Larger than the daydream, the nightmare dream elemental tends to be a much more sinister creature. Created from the frightening dreams of sentient beings, the nightmare resembles a humanoid with a twisted face and wicked claws, and is jet black with feeble streaks of color which run the course of its body before suddenly dying out. In combat, nightmares are cruel and vindictive opponents, preferring to torment a single target, often by inflicting great damage to that person’s companions.
Dream Elemental, Prophetic
The largest and most powerful of the dream elementals is born from the dreams of seers and prophets. Made up of a strangely solid, iron-grey light, the prophetic resembles a miniature star. Possessed with a limited ability to see the future, prophetic dream elementals often believe that their actions, as well as their triumphs, are fated. In combat, this makes them unshakable and surefooted foes. The prophetic nearly always fights to the death and favors attacking one foe at a time using its powerful forbiddance power to cripple their enemies.
