Hello everyone, and welcome to From the Workshop, where we here at Necromancers of the Northwest provide you with little odds and ends designed to improve your game. Today I would like to discuss a personal favorite magic item, the floating pillow. The floating pillow is an object that often shows up in far eastern fantasy settings as a favorite chair for wizards (especially pint sized ones), and we here at Necromancers of the Northwest want to make the floating pillow available to you for use in your game. Below are the basic game rules for the floating pillow.
Floating Pillow
Aura: Moderate Transmutation; CL: 10th
Slot: -; Cost: 18,000gp; Weight: -
The floating pillow lets the user ride in style, provided that she has the mental capacity to make it work. Favored primarily by casters, a floating pillow does not function unless the user has at least one mental ability score (Int , Wis, or Cha) of 12 or higher. The floating pillow seats one person and can carry up to 150 lbs (it can carry twice that amount, but if it does so all its movement speeds are reduced by ½) and flies at a speed of 60ft (as with the spell overland flight) wherever the user wills. Additionally, up to three times per day the user of a floating pillow may activate the pillow’s secondary ability, allowing the user to fly (with aid of the pillow) at a speed of 120ft with perfect maneuverability for 10 minutes. Activating this ability requires a DC 15 Int, Wis, or Cha check.
The floating pillow is perfect for eccentric casters who may need to make a quick getaway in order to live to fight another day. Villains who use the floating pillow will be sure to be remembered, as they soar mockingly away from frustrated PCs, and will bring delight to players who finally manage to unseat the little coward and put an end to him once and for all. The floating pillow is also perfect for players who are looking for a fun and fashionable way to fly about. Until next time, I would like to wish you all the best in your gaming endeavors.
