Hello everyone, and welcome to another From the Workshop. Today I bring you the disciple of Zagyg, a prestige class devoted to everyone's favorite God of Keeping Things Interesting. You may remember Zagyg from yesterday's Foursaken Feature, or from his long and storied career throughout Dungeons and Dragons. If you're an avid reader of our work, you may even remember that the central character in this week's Masters and Minions was, in fact, a member of this prestige class.
So, here it is, the disciple of Zagyg:

Class Features
The following are class features of the disciple of Zagyg.
Lore: At 1st level, a disciple of Zagyg adds half her level to all Knowledge skill checks and may make such checks untrained. The bonuses gained from this ability stack with those gained from bardic knowledge.
Spellcasting: When a new disciple of Zagyg level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if she had also gained a level in a spellcasting class she belonged to before adding the prestige class. She also gains additional spells per day, spells known (if she is a spontaneous spellcaster), and an increased effective level of spellcasting as if she had gained a level in that class. If a character had more than one spellcasting class before becoming a disciple of Zagyg, she must choose which class to add the new level to for purposes of determining spells per day. She does not, however, gain any other benefits a character of that class would have gained.
Blessings of Zagyg (Sp): Zagyg grants his disciples a number of special abilities which allow them to make life more interesting. At each level except first and fifth the disciple of Zagyg gains a special ability from the list below. The disciple of Zagyg must meet any prerequisites listed in a blessing’s description before taking that ability. Unless otherwise stated, a blessing of Zagyg is a supernatural ability which requires a standard action to use.
In order to use a blessing, the disciple must sacrifice a spell slot of a certain level. The level sacrificed and the number of uses this grants per day depends on the blessing in question. The sacrifice of spell slots for this purpose occurs during spell preparation (or, in the case of spontaneous spellcasters, any time they like, though it takes a full-round action to sacrifice a spell-slot in this way) and lasts until the next time the disciple regains his or her spells, at which time he or she can choose to prepare different spells and sacrifice more or less spell slots.
Blessing of Aura Nullification: This blessing creates an aura which impedes the effectiveness of other magical and supernatural auras. This aura extends 5 ft/class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses and completely nullifies any other auras within this range. Only auras are affected, so a character protected by this blessing is immune to a pit fiend’s fear aura, but is affected normally by a fireball or cloudkill spell. Beneficial auras are also nullified, such as a paladin’s aura of courage. Additionally, spells like detect evil do not function on characters or objects within a blessing of aura nullification, because the evil (or good, or magical, etc) auras the spells detect are suppressed. The aura lasts for 1 minute/class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses.
By sacrificing a 3rd level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
By sacrificing a 9th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can maintain this effect for a full 24 hours.
Blessing of Bound Spells: A disciple of Zagyg with this blessing may bind a single 1st level spell to him- or herself for 24 hours. The spell in question must be a spell the disciple of Zagyg knows and can cast, must have a duration longer than instantaneous and must have an “area” entry in its spell description. Upon sacrificing the appropriate spell slot, the spell is continuously in effect, with the disciple always at the center of the effect (in the case of cones, the disciple is instead at the cone’s origin point). The spell functions as normal except for the change in duration. The disciple of Zagyg cannot dismiss or suppress the effect, though dispel magic or similar effects can end the effect, in which case it is gone until the next time the disciple prepares spells.
This blessing requires the disciple to sacrifice a 9th level spell slot.
Blessing of Caster’s Humor: This blessing creates an aura of conducive magical energies around the disciple of Zagyg, making spells cast within more powerful. This aura extends 5 ft/class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses, and grants all creatures (including the disciple’s enemies) within it the ability to apply any one metamagic feat they possess to each spell they cast within the aura without increasing the spell’s level or spending extra time to cast it. All spellcasters within the aura instinctively know its effects, and can act on them without instruction. The aura lasts until the end of the disciple of Zagyg’s next turn. A disciple of Zagyg must have the blessing of good humor in order to select this blessing.
By sacrificing a 4th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
By sacrificing an 8th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can prepare a version of this ability which lasts for 1 round/class level, instead of the usual one round.
Blessing of Good Humor: This blessing creates an aura of hope and exuberance around the disciple of Zagyg. This aura extends 5 ft/class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses, and grants all creatures (including the disciple’s enemies) within it a +2 morale bonus to attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls. This effect lasts for 1 minute per class level.
By sacrificing a 2nd level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
By sacrificing a 4th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can prepare a version of this ability which lasts for 10 minutes per class level, instead of the usual 1 minute per class level.
Blessing of Greater Metamagical Transmutation: This blessing functions as the blessing of metamagical transmutation, except that the substitute spell need only be of the same level or school, not both (for example, a magic missile could be replaced with reduce person or with scorching ray, but not with bull’s strength). A disciple of zagyg must have the blessing of metamagical transmutation in order to select this blessing.
By sacrificing a 5th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
By sacrificing two 9th level spell slots, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability every time she counters a spell, as long as she continues to be able to cast spells of the appropriate level or school (the disciple still loses this ability the next time she regains spells).
Blessing of Insight: This blessing grants the disciple of Zagyg vast amounts of lore on subjects in her immediate vicinity. The disciple of Zagyg gains a bonus equal to her class level on all knowledge checks about subjects contained entirely within 20 ft of the disciple. For example, a disciple of Zagyg confronted with an ancient red dragon would gain a bonus to any Knowledge (history) checks regarding legends about the dragon and past deeds it had committed, but would not gain a bonus to Knowledge (arcana) checks to find out more about red dragons in general. Final discretion with what the bonus does and does not apply to rests with the DM. This blessing lasts 10 minutes/class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses.
By sacrificing a 3rd level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
By sacrificing a 5th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can prepare a version of this ability which grants a bonus of +2/class level rather than +1/class level.
By sacrificing a 7th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can maintain this effect for 24 hours.
By sacrificing a 9th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can prepare a version of this ability which grants a bonus of +2/class level rather than +1/class level, and which lasts for 24 hours.
Blessing of Insanity: This blessing creates an aura of insanity around the disciple of Zagyg, confusing friend and foe alike and sowing chaos in its wake. This aura extends 5 ft/class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses, and forces all creatures within (including the disciple himself) to succeed at a Will save (DC 10 + the disciple of Zagyg’s class level + the disciple of Zagyg’s Charisma modifier) each round or be confused until the beginning of his or her next turn. This effect lasts for 1 round/class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses.
By sacrificing a 5th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
By sacrificing a 9th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability five times per day.
Blessing of Metamagical Transmutation: This blessing allows a disciple of Zagyg to transform a spell being cast into an entirely different spell. In order to use this ability, the disciple of Zagyg must successfully counter a spell as it is being cast. If the disciple does so, she may, as an immediate action, cast any spell she know, as long as it is of the same level and school as the countered spell. If the spell being cast had a target, the new spell must have the same target. The disciple of Zagyg has no special knowledge of who the target of the spell was; the new spell automatically targets the same target, if able. If the new spell cannot target the target of the countered spell, the disciple of Zagyg instinctively realizes it and may choose to substitute a different spell of the same school and level. The new spell determines its caster level, DC, attack bonus, and such based on the caster of the countered spell, not the disciple of Zagyg.
By sacrificing a 3rd level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
By sacrificing a 9th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability every time she counters a spell, as long as she continues to be able to cast spells of the appropriate level and school (the disciple still loses this ability the next time she regains spells)
Blessing of Secrecy: This blessing surrounds the disciple of Zagyg with energies which cause a vicious feedback on any creature trying to spy on him or her using magic. Whenever a disciple of Zagyg with this blessing is subject to a spell of the scrying subschool, the caster of that spell suffers 1d10 points of damage per round until the spell ends. This ability does nothing to cloud the accuracy of the divination spell, though the continuous damage does force Concentration checks from the caster. This ability is passive and requires no activation other than the sacrifice of spell slots.
By sacrificing a 3rd level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg gains the benefits of this ability for up to 12 rounds of scrying for the day.
By sacrificing a 4th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg gains the benefits of this ability for up to 30 rounds of scrying for the day.
By sacrificing a 5th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg gains the benefits of this ability limitlessly until the next time he or she regains spells.
Blessing of Spell Failure: This blessing creates an aura of magic-hindering energies around the disciple of Zagyg. For the duration of the effect, all creatures within 5 ft/class level of the disciple of Zagyg (including the disciple himself) suffer arcane spell failure equal to 5% per two class levels the disciple of Zagyg possesses. This ability lasts a number of rounds equal to the disciple of Zagyg’s Charisma modifier.
By sacrificing a 4th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
By sacrificing a 6th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability three times per day.
Blessing of Summoning: This blessing allows a disciple of Zagyg to duplicate a specific summon monster or summon nature’s ally spell, with additional effects. First, the spell is automatically extended (as per the metamagic feat), and creatures summoned in this way gain the advanced template for the duration of the effect. The summoning is highly variable, however, and more difficult to control. When the blessing is used, roll a d%: on a result of 01-33, the creature is summoned as normal, except for the changes listed above. On a result of 34-66, the creature is hostile, and attacks the summoner immediately upon arriving. On a result of 67-100, the spell instead summons an innocuous creature, such as a toad or bunny rabbit.
In order to use this blessing, the disciple of Zagyg must sacrifice a spell slot of a level equal to the desired spell. The disciple of Zagyg must choose when sacrificing the spell slot whether the blessing will use a summon monster or summon nature’s ally spell.
Blessing of Transposition: When activated, this blessing allows the disciple of Zagyg to switch places with any other living creature within 10 feet as a free action once per round. Unwilling targets are allowed a Will save (DC 10 + the disciple of Zagyg’s class level + the disciple of Zagyg’s Charisma modifier) to resist the effect. This blessing lasts 1 round for each class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses.
By sacrificing a 2nd level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
By sacrificing a 8th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can maintain this effect for a full 24 hours.
Blessing of Vulnerability : This blessing creates an aura around the disciple of Zagyg which makes creatures especially susceptible to certain energies. This aura extends 5 ft/class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses, and causes all creatures within the aura (including the disciple of Zagyg and his or her allies) to gain vulnerability to one of the following energy types: acid, cold, electricity, or fire. This effect lasts 1 round/class level the disciple of Zagyg possesses.
By sacrificing a 5th level spell slot, a disciple of Zagyg can use this ability once per day.
Greater Blessing of Bound Spells: This blessing functions as the blessing of bound spells, except that the disciple of Zagyg can choose a spell of up to 2nd level. A disciple of zagyg must have the blessing of bound spells in order to select this blessing.
This blessing requires the disciple to sacrifice two 9th level spell slots.
