Ranger Spells

                Here in Obscure Arcana, we endeavor week after week to make sure that we provide the best in spells for characters of all classes and backgrounds. However, sometimes we are less successful in this aim than we would like to be, and we often worry that we will neglect classes which focus less on spellcasting and more on other aims. Naturally, to address such concerns we create articles devoted entirely to the classes we worry about so that we can get them out of the way and not worry about them anymore. This is such an article, and it’s about rangers.

 

SWARM SLAVE
School transmutation (polymorph); Level druid 8, ranger 4, witch 9

Saving Throw Fortitude negates, Will partial; Spell Resistance yes

                You transform the target into a deadly swarm that falls under your mental influence, allowing you to control him. The target receives a Fortitude save to resist the effects of this spell. If he fails this saving throw, he is transformed into a swarm of centipedes, spiders, or wasps. He loses all his abilities and gains the abilities of the chosen swarm, though he retains his current hit points.

                If the target fails his Fortitude saving throw, then before he transforms into the swarm, he must immediately succeed on a Will saving throw or fall under your command, allowing you to direct the swarm telepathically for the spell’s duration. A target who succeeds his Will save is still transformed into a swarm of centipedes, spiders, or wasps, but is free to act as he wishes.

 

TWIN ARROW

                You magically create an arrow in your hand, which is identical in every way to the target arrow. The replicated arrow has all the same mundane and magical properties as the targeted arrow, but only lasts 1 round per level. It must be fired within that time or it fades into nothingness. With this spell, you create 1 arrow + 1 arrow for every 2 caster levels you possess.

 

WILD VENGEANCE
School transmutation; Level druid 6, ranger 3
Casting Time 1 standard action

Target one animal
Duration 1 round/level
Saving Throw Will negates, Fortitude partial; Spell Resistance yes

                You take magical control of a nearby animal and increase it to great size, imbuing it with the strength of nature. If the target fails his Will save, he falls under your perfect telepathic command and obeys all your thoughts to the best of his ability. It requires no action to direct an animal with this spell. Additionally, if the target fails his Fortitude save, his size increases by 1 step, providing him with all the normal benefits conferred for increasing in size, including gaining Strength and Constitution as well as natural armor.

Saving Throw Fortitude negates (harmless); Spell Resistance yes (harmless)

                You fill your animal companion with the strength and vigor of the wild land, imbuing him with additional power and granting him more abilities. For the spell’s duration, your animal companion gains abilities as though you were a druid of your ranger level. The animal companion does not gain additional feats or skills as a result of this process, though it gains all the other benefits conferred as a result of your higher druid level, including gaining additional Hit Dice. Additionally, as long as your animal companion is within a terrain it is native to or in one of your favored terrains, it gains fast healing equal to 1/2 your caster level.
